80's Night @ Cafe Coco - Nashville, TN

It's been a while since I've posted in here. Been only focusing on the the Facebook page. Coming up June 24th I will be DJing an 80's Night @ Cafe Coco in Nashville, TN. It is Free and All ages. Starts at 9 p.m. and goes until 2 a.m. Lots of cool stuff to do. There will be Free Nintendo for 2 hours, then we will show music videos, old MTV style. Then We are going to show Labyrinth while I DJ the rest of the night out.

Here is a schedule of what will be played that night..

9 p.m. to 10 p.m. - Pop Music
10 p.m. to 11 p.m. - New Wave
11 p.m. to 12 p.m. - "I Want My MTV" Music Video Set
12 p.m. to 1 a.m. - Goth/Industrial
1 a.m. to 2 a.m. - Punk/Metal

INXS - Now & Then

Though today is a sad day in Japan. Maybe this song will make you feel better.

The original guys in the band just released a new version of this classic tune. It's nice to see Kirk and Andrew singing this song instead of someone else covering it. This song was always the last song they played Live. It's a slower, more mellow version but it's nice.




Now for the original. One of the best songs to ever come out of the 80's. Released in 1982 from their album "Shabooh Shoobah". With the late great Michael Hutchence.



INXS has been doing a few tour dates with a new singer. No US Dates that I know of.

Echo & The Bunnymen - Now & Then

Echo & The Bunnymen put out new music in 2009. They've had some problems getting back to the US. They had a tour booked to support their album "The Fountain" from 2009 but they couldn't get into the country and it was canceled. It was actually a really good album.



They are making a return to the US and they are playing their first two albums in their entirety. "Crocodiles" from 1980 and "Heaven Up Here" from 1981. So I picked "Rescue" from their debut album. It's my favorite song off their debut album.



They will be playing Atlanta, Ga May 5th. Don't miss it.

Duran Duran - Now & Then

Duran Duran released their new album digitally December 21st, 2010. Physical copies will be coming out March 22nd, 2011. They are on tour supporting their new album "All You Need is Now" Here is the video for their current single.




I recommend you get their new album. It's produced by Mark Ronson and it's ten times better than their last release they did with Justin Timberlake. They are back with a strong album.

Okay now from their debut self titled album released in 1981. Here is "Planet Earth".



They are playing some smaller venues right now but they said they will be adding more tour dates with bigger venues. Hoping to see them on this tour because their new album really is good.

O.M.D. - Now & Then

Okay taking a break from the Podcast to do a few "Now & Then" video posts. O.M.D. (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark) just released a new album "History of Modern" in September 2010. Here is a video for their song "If You Want It".



This is one of my favorite songs by O.M.D. It's from their self title debut album, released in 1980.



They are currently on tour right now. They are a must see. I can't wait to see them.

Frank (Just Frank) / Soviet Soviet - EP Split - 2010

I am not familiar with Soviet Soviet as much but I familiar with Frank (Just Frank). They're from Europe. They have that old Post-punk and Coldwave influence. Soviet Soviet is kind of in the same vain, maybe more noisy. They sort of remind me of The Cramps. A Modern take.
